Cationic polyacrylamide is commonly screened for organic sludge and wastewater solids. Anionic polyacrylamide is widely evaluated for mineral suspensions, tailings, aggregate washing and clarification. Nonionic PAM is a lower-charge option for selected acidic, filtration and application-specific systems.
The final choice depends on particle charge, pH, salinity, existing coagulants, preparation water and the mixing and shear conditions of the actual equipment. Compare samples with the controlled jar-test method, then confirm promising grades in a plant trial.
