Polyacrylamide Flocculant Buying Guide

Prepare a complete polyacrylamide flocculant RFQ with application, water or sludge data, equipment, dosage, packaging, samples and delivery requirements.

A credible supplier should ask what the polymer must do. Price per tonne without application data can compare the wrong grades and hide differences in active dose, dissolution and delivered performance.

Include these details in your RFQ

  • Industry and exact treatment stage
  • Water, slurry or sludge description
  • pH, suspended solids, salinity and temperature where available
  • Current product name, ionic type and active dose
  • Clarifier, DAF, centrifuge, belt press or other equipment
  • Monthly requirement, packaging and destination port
  • Target result: clarity, settling, cake solids, capture or friction reduction

Compare total treatment cost

Evaluate cost at the successful active dose, not bag price alone. Include preparation labor, water consumption, throughput, sludge hauling, rejected batches and support during scale-up. A knowledgeable polyacrylamide supplier should be able to discuss that operating context.

Define the treatment objective first

State whether the project needs clearer overflow, faster settling, higher solids capture, drier cake, improved filtration or lower friction. Include the present result and the target. A supplier cannot optimize every outcome at once, and the lowest-turbidity grade may not produce the driest cake or lowest total cost.

Describe the feed and treatment train

Provide pH, temperature, suspended solids, dry solids, salinity and known contaminants where available. List coagulants, pH adjustment, oxidants or other chemicals used before and after the polymer point. For sludge, identify primary, biological, digested or industrial origin. For mineral slurry, include ore or clay type and particle-size information.

Document preparation and equipment

Explain whether the plant uses dry powder or emulsion, the stock-solution concentration, aging time, dilution water and transfer pump. Name the clarifier, DAF, centrifuge, belt press, screw press, filter press or thickener and describe the injection location. Many apparent product failures are preparation or mixing problems, so this information is commercially relevant.

Compare samples on one basis

Use the same sample, water, preparation method and mixing sequence. Compare multiple doses and report active polymer per tonne of dry solids or per cubic metre of water. Record the metrics that matter to the operation. Follow the controlled jar-test procedure before moving the best candidates to a plant trial.

Calculate delivered treatment cost

Combine successful active dose with product price, freight, preparation labor, water, throughput, sludge hauling and disposal. Include the cost of poor capture, cloudy recycle water and production interruptions. Bag price alone can reward a concentrated or underperforming comparison that costs more during operation.

Confirm supply and documents

State monthly demand, destination, packaging and pallet preferences. Ask for the commercial grade name, COA, SDS, shelf-life guidance and batch traceability. If continuous production depends on the polymer, discuss lead time, safety stock and how a formulation change would be communicated.

Questions a serious supplier should ask

Expect questions about application, feed variation, current chemistry, equipment and target performance. A polyacrylamide manufacturer that recommends one universal grade without this context is not performing a meaningful selection. The objective of the RFQ is to narrow the sample set, establish an agreed trial method and create a quotation that can be compared on operating value.
