Do not select from industry name alone
Two plants in the same industry may need different grades. Send water or sludge data, present chemistry, equipment, flow and target performance. We use that information to narrow the sample set.
Wastewater clarification and DAF
In clarification, PAM enlarges destabilized particles so they settle or float more reliably. It often works after an inorganic coagulant, but the order, mixing energy and delay between chemicals affect performance. DAF systems need floc that captures solids and oil without breaking before the flotation zone. Operators should compare treated-water turbidity, solids capture and total chemical cost.
Sludge dewatering
Biological and industrial sludge commonly requires cationic screening, although actual charge demand varies. Centrifuges, belt presses, screw presses and filter presses impose different shear and drainage conditions. Track cake solids, centrate or filtrate clarity, capture rate and active polymer dose during the equipment trial.
Mining, quarry and tailings water
Anionic grades are frequently evaluated for mineral suspensions and thickener feed. Selection depends on mineralogy, particle-size distribution, solids concentration and process-water chemistry. Fast settling without adequate compaction can overload downstream handling, so overflow clarity and bed density should be measured together.
Paper, textile and process industries
PAM can support retention, drainage and wastewater solids capture in paper production, while textile and chemical streams may use it for clarification or sludge conditioning. Residual dyes, surfactants, salts and coagulants change polymer demand. A fresh process sample is essential for meaningful screening.
Oilfield and energy applications
Polyacrylamide families are used in selected produced-water separation, drilling-fluid, enhanced-recovery and friction-reduction duties, but these applications may require different product forms and specifications. Salinity, temperature, shear and compatibility must be defined before a grade is proposed.
Turn an application into a test plan
Start with the separation objective and identify how success will be measured. Collect representative feed, document its pH and solids, reproduce actual preparation water and compare a controlled dose curve.
